so they mentioned noah couldn’t have preached to all the population back before the flood.
do you think they might start using common sense regarding not being able to get every animal type on the ark from the whole world?.
maybe the poor sloth from south america didn’t have to crawl all the way?

Ah, I guessed it wouldn't be long before cofty would see this thread and be along, proselytising for evolution! 🤣
Actually, Cofty isnt proseltysing at all. Cofty is asking a very straightforward question- how did marsupials make it all the way to Australia from the Middle East, via the Americas? Its a route that only makes sense if the continents were once joined, which had to be eons before any mythical flood.
Lets assume that Noahs flood happened 4500 odd years ago. At this point, South America and Australia about 16000 kms apart, separated by the South Pacific ocean. Even the most rabid bible apologist will find it hard to explain that migratory marsupial journey and still retain any self-respect.
Ok, so what about via Asia to Australia? Well, then there is the small problem of the Wallace Line. Its is an imginary line that prevents most species of animals in Asia from crossing into Australia and is the dividing line where species are vastly different on either side. Thats why animals abundant in south east asia are not found in Australia, and vice versa, for example monkey's, tigers, cobras.
So, it is really hard to explain the migration of animals to the rest of the world from the ark in a satisfactory way.
after being brought up a jw, going to mts, bethel, pioneer school multiple times, serving in foreign assignments and having been an elder for decades my conclusion is that i am now pima, physically in mentally agnostic.. agnostic means you think it can’t be proven either way creation or evolution.
i do tend to lean towards evolution but creation at the very start because you can’t get life from dead matter.
but i’m open to the possibility of chance theory at the origin of it all.
The 'god of the gaps' theory is one interesting idea that I became aware of later in life. For anyone that hasnt heard of it, it basically states that belief in god begins where our own personal understanding ends. Put another way, the existence of god is needed to explain things that science hasnt currently explained to someones personal level of satisfaction.
To me its interesting because one person might be overwhelmingly convinced by scientific evidence and another may totally reject the exact same evidence. This can be a result of their own education, family beliefs, personal or religious beliefs.
The idea that we reject something we personally dont understand is extremely vain when you think about it and all of us have probably been guilty of it. The fact that an idea has not been proven is not proof that the idea is false.
Church attendance is apparently in decline. Is that a sign that freely available information on the internet has filed in a lot of gaps for formerly religious people?

18 you may choose to get married.
the qualities and skills that we have discussed will help you to become a capable wife.
There was an uber elder in one of my congregations who had marriage rules for his daughters. They had to be over 20 yrs old and they had to marry a brother that was over 20, pioneering and a MS. So, the criteria was mostly based on how many hours the guy witnessed for a month.
this is going to break the hearts of a lot of uber-jw's!
reddit has now removed the video link of samuel herd telling jw's they will no longer have to report time or placements - just tick a box which says "active.".

I agree that it may be a tactic that somehow protects the org legally. Are they going to end formal witnessing arrangements so that they can claim that no child is ever alone with an adult? Would they go that far? That has been one of their big defences in trying to duck CSA cases against them.
The only outcome I can see is that most dubs will use at a way to drastically decrease the amount of witnessing they do. It feels like the exact opposite of 'speeding up the work'.

the search feature is not easy to find things so i'll start a new topic.. the july 2022 w had this picture.. .
note that they say satan and his demons were cast out of heaven, about 1914. their math is getting fuzzier.. and there was a recent topic on here about the 1000 year reign.
this shows that it starts at armageddon..
Despite the orgs claims that the end is closer than ever, the reality is that time is their friend.
It's already been 28 years since the generation change of 1995. A jw would have to be almost 40 years old to remember the original doctrine of the 1914 generation with any significance.
This seemingly insignificant editing of how they describe the events of 1914, using the word 'about', seems logical as they will have to gradually move away from the whole generation thing eventually. The gb know it will take decades.
why haven't i heard about this on the bbc et al???????.

I think it's ridiculous to suggest that anyone remotely suggested your suggestion!
Just my suggestion.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Which "one" person were you referring to - Professor Buckhaults, or Kevin McKernan?
The study of DNA is a huge topic and to suggest that any untrained person fully understands the whole story after watching a video for a few minutes is ridiculous.
All of us ingest plant and animal dna, and sometimes human DNA when we eat. The body has methods to ensure that this DNA is broken down and can't cause any problems.
This is the short answer. I'm not an expert. From what I understand of this video, the professor was bringing attention to the need for scrutiny concerning regulations.
